Tech talk. I need advice
just bought HP Pavilion 23q113w desk top & not only do I dislike Windows 10 but it is way way too slow uploading data. Any comments?
...you just have to get used to it, it's really the fastest Windows OS to date. Now, the reason your data is slow to upload isn't your operating system, it could be many things; your isp via your data plan to your hard drives being slow...I'm leaning to the isp part since your 'puter is new. Download Speedtest.com and see what speeds you're getting and go from there...
...I had upload problems and had to give 'em more dough for more speed...way of our world...

My upload speeds are consistently great to some sites, and very slow to others. Clearly the upload site's fault. At other times, the upload speeds are slow to a site that is normally fast; clearly a problem with my isp or the site's isp.
Another possibility is that the HP upload app is slow or misadjusted. Are you using WIFI or a wired connection? WIFI will always be slower than a wired connection. Possibly the HP wifi adapter is misadjusted.
Win10 is capable of fast internet speeds, up and down. I am running it on 4 different computers and all are fast.

Your ISP could be providing good speeds but system memory may not be sufficient to process the data fast enough...
How much memory is in the unit?
HP sells that model with a default of 4GB of RAM but it is capable of 16 GB. The more memory, the faster it is...

As suggested above, download one of the many speed tests (I use Ocala) and benchmark your upload speed (which is often only 10% of the download speed). If you have the choice, try it both wi-fi and directly connected to your modem/router, then report back, and we'll try to assist from there once we have good metrics in hand.
Cheers,
Chris

My biggest problem with Win10 was installing it - took me months. Now that I have it, I like it. It seems to do things much faster.
Can you please be more descriptive of the data you have referenced as "slow uploading"? We may be more able to help.
Thanks,
Mark

As mentioned above your ISP could be slow but it could be slow at different times of the day due to bandwidth slowdown at peak hours. I have cable here and there are times that it will slow to a crawl and I have the highest speed possible with my cable company (Charter). Peak hours are generally between 7 and 9 PM.
You might want to try a program called "Classic Shell" it's a free add on to windows 10 that makes it look just like windows 7. You can switch back and forth.

Lee, some speed issues can be the result of too little RAM. This is an easy to remedy situation.

Looks like this advice has already been posted. . . .
Go to
http://www.speedtest.netand use the free reliable online app to test both your Download and Upload speeds. Nothing to install, it is internet based and only takes a few seconds. Windows 10 should not interfere with your internet performance.

Did you mean "two little ram"?

I would suggest Speedtest.NET and don't download it, just run it straight off the internet!
