There is Something Really Out of Wack in This Country!

So tonight on the way home from work I was driving I-95 in Miami and the south bound lanes were shut down for miles crawling with cops up and down the interstate blocking all on ramps.... This went on for 6 to 8 miles, it was 5:30 in the afternoon mind you, the height of rush hour. The occasion? Obama will be attending a fundraiser in Coconut Grove this evening.... WTF, really? Not only were the six lanes of I-95 shut down but also the Dolphin Expressway, a major east/west corridor was shut down from before the airport all the way up to I-95 creating an equally offensive backup, ruining the commute and evenings of 10's of thousands of people, again I remind you this occurred during rush hour. Luckily I was headed northbound on 95 so this did not affect my t***sit, just north of the area where Obama's motorcade would enter I-95 is where the interstate had been blocked off, I saw people outside of their cars that were now parked on the interstate, people on the roofs of pickup trucks, gathered in groups talking... obviously they had been there for quite some time. The stopped traffic stretched for miles.

I find myself outraged by what I saw, I have to question if as a people have we, the American people, become such sheeple that we allow things like this to occur. This is not so much about Obama himself as traffic would have been shut down had it been done during a Bush presidency or for any other president, possibly a different president would have had the courtesy to not come during rush hour, but Obama does what Obama does.... My question is why do we allow this, and is our president really so important that we shut down major aspects of our cities when he comes to visit? First off this is not even official business, it was for a freakin political fund raiser for god's sake. Would it really be so bad for that armored car of his to have to wade through traffic surrounded by his motorcade with the rest of us? Is our president so important of a man that he deserves his very own interstate? Are the schedules of 50,000 or more individuals so unimportant that the president should not be asked to consider arriving at lets say 1:00pm and find someway to be productive in those few hours before his event so as not to be such a burden on a city during peak traffic, is his time really that much more important than ours? Why do we elevate the office as we have, it has not always been this way, and after all, he is only a man, he certainly is not a god, should we tolerate such things as this?

Obama stuck in rush hour traffic with many of the other drivers armed and loopy ... what could go wrong? Plenty of losers with nothing to lose.

".....should we tolerate such things as this?"

Small potatoes compared to the other governmental crap we tolerate.......

SECRET SERVICE SAYS THE NUMBER OF THREATS AGAINST THE PRESIDENT IS OVERWHELMING. President Barack Obama is the target of more than 30 potential death threats a day and is being protected by an increasingly over-stretched Secret Service. He is the most threatened President in history.

Four sitting presidents have been k**led, all of them by gunshot: Abraham Lincoln (the 16th President), James A. Garfield (the 20th President), William McKinley (the 25th President) and John F. Kennedy (the 35th President).

The op said nothing of the kind, can't you read, you moron. I have pasted part of the post below so you can see it, sorry I don't know how to make it read slow so you can comprehend it

I don't have a dog in the fight, but I read Frank's post as meaning that other presidents have created serious traffic jams over the years. Nothing more, nothing less. Personal attacks seem out of place and childish.

That's not entirely true. The Maine and New Hampshire State Troopers used to close off a rolling portion of 95 from Kennebunkport, Maine and the former Pease AFB in Portsmouth, NH when the Bush family was travailing between those locations. Occasionally I would be delayed on my way home from the Trading Post after closing time for 10, 20 minutes, or so as the convoy passed. Notice it was long after peak traffic hours so few were inconvenienced. The late hour meant there was not only much less traffic for the highly professional security detail to scrutinize but the airborne flair equipment was much more effective spotting heat sources along the route after dark as well. Of course the present occupant of the WH doesn't appear to project the same level of consideration or perhaps feels he deserves much more adulation and publicity as befitting his exalted status. Not that I’m a fan but for all those yammering about Trump’s lack of qualifications what exactly were Obama’s when you elected him to our highest office, or Hillary’s successes for that matter. (Other than dodging sniper fire, that is)

Well, you did make a snarky remark about another president would have shown more courtesy about them timing of his visit...so the remark was not entirely out of bounds.

Most of us have been snarled in traffic because of a P**********l visit...Presidents of both parties.

The unhinged live among us and many of them post right here on UHH. Hard to see an alternative here in 21st century America.
