If anyone is interested key caps are not hard to replace. This is my wife's 5 year old MacBook, I replaced 8 caps. Only took about 30 minutes. Before and After pictures.

Good to know. I'm surprised the lettering wore off. I thought that happened only with TV remotes. :D

Did you buy the whole set of letters?

Somehow this reminded me of an event when I was back in middle school. My mother pulled the letters out of our mailbox and laughed when one was addressed to Mrs. Hsllshrt. Instantly she said whoever typed it had their left hand one row of keys to the right. She was very sharp.

Good information, but somehow it doesn't seem economically feasible
given the age, price of the caps, and future cap replacements to do this task.
