Thank you. There wasn't much room on the road to stop and shoot the waterfalls, so we left very early in the morning to beat the traffic so we could find a place to pull off the road. The road to Hana where these falls are are very narrow and windy not leaving much room for cars to park off of the road.

we left a year and a couple months ago due to cost of living for retired couple but may be on our way back by next year as our friend has property she wants to sell, the traffic that route is pretty darned bad, we always found it best to take the hwy towards Kihei and then go up towards Ma'aleaa, took less time than dealing with traffic

I don't know how long you've been away from Maui, but we were amazed at the amount of traffic there was compared to when we were there 13 years ago. On the weekends, the traffic was bumper to bumper from Kahauli to Ka'anapali. What was usually a 15 minute drive turned into a 1 hr. drive. Still beautiful and we were glad we went.

As locals, I'm sure you know all the back roads and alternative routes to take to avoid the worst traffic conditions. Good luck in your move back, it's a beautiful place. I think the gas prices would curtail some of my driving. I live in Arizona and the gas prices here are substantially less than Maui.

There sure aren't many backroads but there are ways to get around the traffic but the best one is to kick back on a beach and wait it out your on Maui time, gas prices are sure lower here especially compared to Hana, I like Arizona but my heart is always in Maui it was like losing a child when we left.
