A Day at the Feeder

Busy day......D5100, Tamron 18-270mm radio remote flashes and remote stutter to activate from inside.

Shutter preferred @ 1/200th

Spot focused on the actual suet....most shot at f6+ so the DOF is sufficient to capture the bird.

A red belly woodpecker is shown on another post.

Very nice pictures.

How far did you have the lens from the feeder?

I'm still working on getting pictures that sharp!

I've been getting better but I'm about 45 ft. from the feeder so have to employ my heavy artillery...a new 150-500 Sigma.

D5100 also. I experimented with the infared remote but had it timing out. Need to try that again.

I set the camera on a tripod around 6 ft from the feeder and a remote radio flash around the same distance @ 45 degrees and higher than the feeder......the Tamron zoom was only at ~100mm with the camera set on shutter preferred @ 1/200 because that is the fastest flash sync on the 5100.

The porch in in the shade most of the day which is the reason for the choice of the remote flash.
