Before and After photo restoration

This is from the Library of Congress photo collections. I'd attached a photo of two old Civil War veterans (in honor of Memorial Day) to my intro in the "introduce yourself" forum, and most commentary included a wish to see a "before" shot. I no longer had the original-as-downloaded picture of the old soldiers (I'd committed the cardinal sin (!) of working on the original) but this one of auto racer Bob McDonough, taken at Laurel Speedway in July 1925, is submitted for perusal. (This was originally posted by mistake in the Critique section; it was suggested that I place it here). I use PSE v. 13.

I don't see this photo as restored to be honest . I see it as changed and repaired photo .. It loses some of the old / aged look of the original, without the black framing.

It's been cleaned up nicely, and despite the fact that the lighting's more even, it isn't lacking contrast. While you're at it, why don't you clone out the shoulder on the right hand edge.
