He has been here twice in the past week. Both times to drop off a Tamron 200-500mm lens. First one had mechanical problems and the second one is too soft, or at least I think it is. Both are being returned.

Ordered the Sigma 150-200mmOS lens, it shoulld be here tomorrow. I really hope it is as sharp as MTs lens. Then I willl have no one to blame but me for poor photos and I will have to try and learn to do better. Calling for mostly cloudy and late afternoon showers at Forsythe so that might not work. Then again, depends on when it get here. Sometimes 9am, sometimes 5pm.

Good thing is if it is not here by 10 I know when to start looking for it. I got to buy that driver a case of beer, then I will know when to look for packages.

I guess I didn't get the order in early enough. They shipped yesterday, it will be here sometime today (Wednesday). Yesterday was nice, today showers and thunderstoorms all day. It figures.

The good news is tomorrow and thru the weekend is suppose to be fairly nice. That will give me 4 -5 days to give it an honest workout like I did with the Tamron. Sense I had a bad copy of this lens before I will put it thru its paces. After seeing what everyone has been able to do with this lens lately I need to give it a fair chance. I wasn't the only one that got a bad copy a few years ago but all the new ones seem to be good. There are a few shooters that have been able to get some great photos with this lens lately. I will see.

Well, it finially came tonight at 5:35pm. It is very overcast again, been raining off and on. Going on six so it is starting to get dark but decided to give it a try anyhow.

Here are the first shots with this lens. Not too bad considering.

Ok, I have been playing with it for a couple of days now. I still haven't decided whether to keep it or not. I have to admit it is an interesting lens with some very good possibilities.

Here are two shots taken this morning. One shot taken with my Canon 100-400mm and the other with the Sigma 150-500mm. You decide which is which without looking at the exif file.

The Robins nest are taken with the same two different lenses also.

I chose - just from the thumbnails. Then checked the EXIF.
I chose correctly. I won't spoil the fun for others regarding which lens goes with which - however I matched what I felt to be the sharper photo with the lens I thought would probably do the best job.

And the winner is........

It really doesn't surprise me. In reality, the Sigma did not do a bad job. It beats the Tamron hands down though. I have to spend some time tuning the Sigma to see what I can do with it. MT has shown what a fine lens it is. I don't expect to be any where near as good a photographer as he is but do think the Sigma lens can do a little better with a little effort and a little bit of my time.

Jim - - I agree - - I think the Sigma you've got provides pretty good bang for the buck.
Certainly can't argue with MT's results either !!

I might just print these two. Not bad shots and I am partial to the subject. Both from the Sigma 150-500mm
