Nik made all the difference

Linda from Maine, in a different thread asked me about my PP of a photo. In my reply, I referred to a photo I had previously posted, done in Lightroom before I had downloaded the Nik collection. I thought I had done everything I could with it in Lr, and had just a so-so result. I later reworked it using the Nik color effects. I'm displaying the before and after here to show how much improvement I got using Nik beyond Lr. Thoughts?

Absolutely agree. Was using PSE14 for my PP of some photos. Results were good. But downloaded the free Nik package and it sure made a big difference. For all you Nikon Capture NX and NX2 people out there, Nik wrote that software. So I recommend that you download the free Nik package as you will find many of its components very similar to the expensive software Nikon once sold.

Very dramatic difference. I did the download but haven't tried it much yet.

This was taken on an overcast day and the original looks almost B&W.

Wow! The difference is quite striking. I also downloaded the free Nik package but have yet to use it. Your comparison here has sure provided me with the incentive to use it. Thanks.

Your welcome Cotondog. I've been using it for nearly all my images since. Could I have done the same thing in Lr with more experience? I doubt it. NIK makes it easy to experiment.

WOW, what a difference. Like several others I have downloaded the NIK software but have yet to use it. I am not looking forward to see what it can do. Thank you for your post!
