Hi Papa Joe, The state forest is near the town of Pisgah, adjacent to the Preparation Canyon State Park, in fact the entrances are adjacent to each other also. Interesting also is that before farming came to Iowa, there were no trees in the Loess Hills. Farming practices changed how nature burned off the hillsides from lighning strikes from time to time. Over time, trees began to take hold at the bottom of the hills and spread upward. They used to be all tall prairie grassland. Thanks for looking.
