I hate to comment in a sale listing but I just wanted to say that I had the IS version and it is one of the sharpest lenses that I have ever put on the camera, Ken Rockwell in his review said that it is the sharpest Zoom lens that Canon has ever made... Of course that review may be a few years old, but that does not mean that Canon has made anything that will out perform it.

Yes i still have the lens. I would consider shipping to Australia. I have never shipped to your country. I have Shipped to Japan, Italy and Germany over the years but not recently. I recall one person asked me to list a camera as a gift but I will only fill out the duty papers with the truth. If you want to do some some checking the lens and other items weighs about 5lbs box and packed. Just for your information I have a like new Canon extender 1.4X II that I about to offer for sale on this site. Thanks Jerry

Many thanks for your quick reply, and yes I'm very interested.

Many of the members of my Camera club, Northern Exposure Photography group (which you can access online by searching for the name and then Western Australia behind it) use the lens you are selling

I'm currently at work, running a medical clinic on an oilrig for some 190 personnel, off the Western Australian coast and do not get back to Perth until late 23rd (your 22nd) June.

In the mean time I can find out through FedEx how much postage will be and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Unfortunately I have a Canon 1.4 and 2 X converter already.

And of course, please put the full amount on the duty papers. duty into Australia on new items is currently $900 and I nearly certain that on used items, there is no duty payable.

Does the lens have image stabilizing? And for shipping purposes what is the approximate dimensions of the total package.

You said the total package weight is about 5 lbs, is that right?

I was afraid your lens may be non IS. I did not notice it in your original advertisement and unfortunately at the moment I can get the same lens for $420 AUD @ http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/1114556453?utm_source=trigger&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=watchlist_pricedrop&utm_content=product.

Even if I take your price and add the shipping cost of say $50, taking it to $535 USD and then take the exchange rate into account, your lens would cost me 535.00 USD = 737.732 AUD

As you can see that is now significantly more than the Australian lens at $420 AUD (details provided above). and the hassle of you having to get it to me and me getting the money to you.

So I'm sorry to have to do this but I have to decline this sale.

I thank you for the trouble you have taken so far and hope you are able to sell the lens in the US in the very near future.
