Can anyone identify this bird?

Wasn't as close as I would have liked. And this was only a 300mm lens with a APS-C sized sensor. He had been sitting on the very top of that tree when I saw him and he then jumped off and went into a steep dive and out of my sight. Location is just south of San Jose CA. Searched all through my bird books for the two white wing strips.

Based on the white wing bars, I would guess a Mockingbird.

Without better resolution, my guess is a northern mocking bird. Gary

Here is a link that shows drawings of several angles. White wing bars show well in flight from any angle or viewpoint.

Thank you everyone. I looked up the Northern Mockingbird in my book and it certainly matches. And we do have that kind of bird in this area.
