Photoengine; that's interesting just in the name! Love your tip on testing several trial programs - and especially on logging settings and adjustments made. Great help, and thank you, photocat!

Yeah, I caught the watermark for the trail version; but you make a compelling argument for the Photomatix, as have others. Thank you for the great advice, MikeWadd!

HDRExpress - will have to look at that one, too. Yes, the multiple images in the Photomatix - and bracketing appears to be a plus. Thank you so much for your help! gemartin - have a fantastic weekend!!

and if you choose to use Photomatix, as part of the installation, you can choose to install the Lightroom plugin interface, so that you can (from Lightroom) choose to Edit In -> Photomatix, where Lightroom will export you images to Photomatix to use as input. and when you Save the result, it will import the new image into Lightroom for you.

I have them both but uses Photomatix for all my HDR since I started using it. IMHO it is the best tool for that job.

in Photomatrix it takes a minimum of 3 bracked photos.

Not so. You can use single picture in Photomatix. I do it all the time. You can also do batch processing.

Photomatix allows you to use a trial version of its software without any expiration date. (The trial version inserts the Photomatix logo onto any pictures you create, though.) I'm presently toying around with the trial version and have pretty much decided to purchase Photomatix because it does everything I want a HDR program to do. Anyway, give the Photomatix trial version a try and see if you're as pleased with the results as I am.

I agree, waiting to get paid to purchase...Julian

Are you sure that a thread from 2011 has enough current information to make a decision?
