An overdue thank you and appreciation

With my incredible work schedule over the last 3 months and minor health issue (all is good) I have not been able to get to UHH as much as I like. A few weeks ago and for the first time, I submitted a photo to an UHH contest with the theme "Ceremony". To my surprise it received the most votes. I have used this forum and been a member of UHH for a few years now and have learned so much about photography from everyone here. Most have been extremely helpful even when critical. It's important to always look at criticism as an opportunity. My thank you is to all who have helped me through this learning curve of photography. I still have a long way to go but your tips on lighting, lenses, composition and capturing the "moment" have been invaluable. This family loved this shot!! So for those just joining UHH, listen to these members. They are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about photography. You will learn a lot right here!! Again, thank you all and apologies for the delay in posting this.

The photo is good, not great in composition but sharp etc.

The real strength is the subject and the timing combined with the expressions of the people.
It is a moment of great joy and the people voting responded to that.

Over all you deserved the votes.

There are a few types of great photos: (My opinion, on another day I might change this list.)
1. the great composition
2. great exposure, focus, technique etc.
3. the right moment/timing
4. those that touch the emotions
5. a unique event

You have 2,3,4 and a bit of 5 (not the event, but this event for that baby) and on #1 you are better than average by quite a bit.

Thank you for the comments Robert. You are correct. I was prompted to submit this shot because of the expressions and lighting. I tried to time the water being poured by the priest and hope for reaction. I was also fortunate to be allowed to stand right there. All in all I was pleased with the end result and encouraged to continue to experiment and learn.
