What are the signs of a bad photographer?

Here are some I found, but I know many of you could add to it.

Of course, not being able to produce a decent picture after shooting thousand of shots would be a sign to me. This may sound unbelievable, but it does happen all the time.

Next would be, shooting all your pictures in harsh light, and feel they are good. Yes, sometime harsh light can produce a decent picture, but first you need to know what camera setting to use, as well as having the right additional equipment to tame the overly harsh light. Unless of course that what your going for, in which case you really need to know what your doing.

Does anyone else have anything to add to this ??? please lets have some fun in ourselves, and work towards not being a "bad" photographer.

OK Rachel I'll bite. I shot all, every single shot, of my mother's 80th birthday with the polarizing filter on. I think that was #2 or 3 on the list. :-D

haha, Yeah, that polarizing filter, it's gotten more then one photographer. I remenber when I first got mine. I left it on when shooting at dusk. Boy were those some aweful pictures.

But.......taking a picture of grandma with the Polarizing filter is really cruel. ;-)

oh I have more than a couple but I'll just list my #1 right now.

turning all your subjects into plastic dolls, including cute little babies. Babies should not look like you just took them out of a shipping box. (don't laugh there is a "pro" photographer in my town that posted a picture of a baby session she did and I swore up and down she posted a picture of a doll. I was wrong it was a real baby.

Hello, Read the ten and seems to miss the most important one. A bad photographer is one who leaves their camera in a drawer for ten years without removing the batteries...... I would argue there are many "bad' photographers but very few "bad" photographs. Scale according to experience. Of course you could check out todays post "lets see you working" There is at least one tank cleaner who qualifies.......Here are some I found, but I know many of you could add to it.

Yep, the turning your subjects into plactic dolls is clearly a sign. I hate the over done look. I mean....really how many people really look like they have been made into a doll.

If you want a persons skin to look fawless, then do what I do, take a slightly blurred picture. Does wonders. :lol:

I know I shouldn't laugh at the images on that site, because at one time mine were just, if not worse, than the ones posted but these people are actually calling themselves PROFESSIONAL photographers! I don't know what is worse the photographers there that think they are good enough to charge people, or the people that are paying them.

Another sign your a bad photographer? You feel other bad photographers with bigger lenses and more expensive camera are better then you.

It's not the equipment, it's what you do with it. (okay guys don't get carried away with that statement).

yeah, you got that right. A bad photographer is one who never takes out there camera. Never brings there camera with them, and makes excuses for the above.

Shooting without a memory card in may be one to consider but there would be no proof!

Shooting with the lens cap on all day and not noticing it may be a sign one should pick another hobby. :shock:

These are the reason to always look through the view finder.......that is if you can fiqure out where it is........if not..... that would be another sign you need a new hobby.

i actualy do not agree with only shoots poloroids being a bad photographer. there is some amazing work being produced with poloroids, holgas, and diana's.

my adddition to a bad photographer would be 1)someone who posts a drek filled photo on a website asks for critique and then go glen close/fatal attraction on anyone who dares criticize their photo. I sense a name calling from the past, rymes with truly.

another bad photographer is one who insists that either film is the only way, or using any photoediting software makes it no longer a photograph.

a bad photographer just shoots the same old cliches and does not try to stretch and improve.
