I took these photos at the St George Utah water conservancy garden which is in full bloom this time of year. It is a designed high desert garden. It is a Golden Barrel Cactus.

I grew up in Ill my mom had one of those in a flower pot. Never knew it's name. It would bloom in the spring.
I don't understand what the title of the post has to do with the pic?

On a job I did in the AZ desert, we were told that locally these were also called Compass Cactus. As the grow, the slowly, bow pointing their center, their "cowlick" as my barber would call it, to the south. Great plants, nice treatment, well done sir!

They are indeed a beautiful stunning plant that I would not want to have to deal with. Thanks for the comment. These were rather large at more than twelve inches across.

On the bottom right of the last one there is a little green, the remainder of a weed that I could not completely remove even with a knife. Too many stickers. My back shudders even now when I think about the pain induced by those stickers. Thanks for looking and commenting.
