Oregon and Virginia are the first two states to disclose Obamacare premium proposals for 2017 -

Oregon –
Providence Health Plan, the largest Obamacare insurer in the Oregon Health Insurance Exchange, is seeking an average increase of 29.6%.
Moda Health Plan wants to increase premiums by an average of 32.3% (Note: Rates went up 25% in 2015.)
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest asked for an increase of 14.5%.

Virginia –
Anthem Inc. is asking for an average increase of 15.8%
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield of Virginia is seeking a 25% increase.
Aetna is going to raise premiums by a modest 6%

And don’t forget about UnitedHealth Group, which announced last month that it’s withdrawing from all but a handful of the 34 states where it was offering Obamacare plans because it’s experiencing huge losses.

Percentages are nice, but it would be good to know actual total cost for the different income demographics. I'm sure it's a heck of a deal for some and a hosing for others, keeping in mind that my coverage and costs have been increasing for the past 20 or so years. Good luck to all!

Too many numbers to make an effective presentation in this format, and the rate varies by location as well. Pretty typical for a single 40-year old nonsmoker is going from $350/month to $440/month in Oregon. Google "2017 Obamacare Cost" for a lot of detail.

Many who were in group programs with an employer had no idea what the total premium was, they only knew their share. For several years I know personally of employees in groups that were paying 3 to 7 hundred a month. No secret that deductibles have been rising for a long time. Total plans were 6 to 12 thousand a year, but the employee contribution represented only a portion. Had they lost their group coverage, they would have been paying the whole premium. One of my sons was paying over 1,00 per month on Cobra when he left the oil fields in N Dakaota. There are a lot of variations for sure!
