Help correcting this pic

Hi
Ive attached two pics of boats. The original pic the boom arms on the boats lean to the right.
The corrected pic, the arms have been straightened. The problem is the building
in the righthand corner. with the booms straight that building is now leaning.

I know I could have shot it from a different angle I can also crop out the building or delete the building
using the clone brush etc.

Im more interested in learning how to straighten that building in PS6 so that the boats AND building are both straight, so in the future
I'll have a clue how to do it.

Thanks for any ideas

The problem is mainly one of perspective distortion, caused by the upward tilt of the camera (I don't have exif data but I suspect the use of a wide angle as well). Rotating on its own won't solve the problem - it needs a perspective correction tool as well. I only have Lightroom so I can't advise on PS.

Under filter, do you have a Camera RAW filer? It has perspective correction in it.

dont see it, though I can load it in camera raw when I bring it into PS.

what Ive done was under filters, lens correction, then custom, change perspective, then use the horizontal and vertical sliders

it works. then you have to do a lot of cropping, but its a start..

learning PS can be a bear, there are no classes in my area, the youtube videos , most are very specific topics, there are a lot of videos out there but I can never find the one that I need for the specific problem im having on any given day.

The guys here are great, thanks for those that wrote back...... I learned something today ...

I find that for general photo editing, I'm better off using LR or Camera Raw. Most of the tools you'll need are available just by using sliders. I only jump into Photoshop when I need to do some complex cloning or layer masking. I'm a graphic designer by day, and I still find photoshop to be confusing...so you're not the only one.

You're welcome. My only adjustments (in LR) were Vertical minus 22 and Rotate minus 0.8.

I usually start with auto vertical or auto vertical and horizontal button...and then tweak from there.

Copy one to the other and mask out one or the other....example, keep the straight masts of the one, and erase the crooked building of the other revealing the straight building...they look as if they will overlay nicely in the composite.

Another solution is to ditch the building. It is clutter anyway.

Crop to get rid of most of it and patch or clone to turn what is left into sky.
