Well folks, it is time to start thinking about the Perseid campout again!
Peak showing is forecasted to be August 12, Friday, with a waxing gibbous moon setting about 12:30am.
Leaving decent viewing for the wee hours.
I will again get a group site, I was thinking of the same campground, but one of the site's to the west of last year's site.
I will get the site for Thursday through Sunday.
Something I didn't do last year but would like to this year is get some images with the cacti forest.
Anyone that is interested may contact through this thread or by PM.
The limits for the campsite are:
20 individuals
8 vehicles

I'm in.
Anywhere is good. G03 was fine last year, except for the pickle heads parading to the illegally parked RV.
I think I'll bring a box of nails this year...
(In case of a parade of pickle heads.)
I'll have to head back early Sunday because of Family coming in at LAX.

That looks freaking awesome!
I'd even bet less airplane pollution.
Looks like more flat area.
It even has a Speedy designation.
And a can at hand.
Don't forget the sprayer.
(Last years distilled water probably has a plastic smell. I haven't even tried it.)

Craig doesn't realize there isn't any cell service out there. So damn sure no WiFry. The horny toads don't want it.
I found it to be the land where the wide lens is King. Especially at night... with an intervalometer... and a big card... and a big battery... sleeping to the rhythmic clicking of 30 second cycles... dreaming of the Perseid meteors that don't get away... letting the lens catch what the eye misses.
This year I have a monster battery and an external power source for my camera.
This year I'm
hoping to do better.... Brighter.... Clearer....
We'll be thinking of you!
I was disappointed when I saw when the moon set, then I figured I'd make lemonade (or lemon drops) out them instead.
We should be able to get some cool landscape shots with the moonlight

Now that would be a trip! But I guess I will have to stay put and settle for my front yard....or at best our Astronomy clubs dark site. It sounds like a great time though!
