Importing RAW into Picaso

After changing my Canon G9X to RAW format, I find I can no longer edit my photos in Picaso. I wonder if the files are now too big? Any advice on this matter?

You can choose which file types Picasa will display for you.

Canon raw files - file type is called cr2 - are indeed compatible with Picasa (not Picaso). So clicking that box in the preferences should work. See:

The files won't be "too big." I can even see my 250 mb multi-layer files from PS Elements in Picasa :)

Please know that Picasa has minimal editing options when you're starting with a raw file. You may wish to consider another editor as you get more comfortable with shooting in raw.

It's more likely that Picasa doesn't support the G9X since it's relatively new.

I checked the specs on his camera once I realized Canon. Same as my Canon cameras: cr2 files. Here is Picasa's list:

Every CR2 file is not the same. If it were, people with Lightroom 1 could open CR2 files created by a brand new Canon.
From Picasa Resources - RAW Support:
... a .CR2 raw from a Canon 20d is not at all the same as a .CR2 raw from a Canon 5D, or the latest Rebel. They all have the .CR2 extension. But they're incompatible and different. The same is true for the RAWs of other camera makers.

Picasa 3 stand alone?

I know for a fact that Picasa 3 does not support my RAW from my Canon T6s. This was the reason for me to get the PS Elements 14 along with a couple of other free PP software packages.
