I have been seeing some hummingbirds but have not caught any new photos. I did get some of the other visitors and wanted to share them.

All taken with the above lens at 500mm with a tripod. The details will be with each photo. As usual please post your comments, both positive and negative. This helps me get better at this digital photography.

Lovely visitors and good shots, Greg. You really don't need a shutter speed that fast for birds on feeders, but I have a feeling someone will be quick to contradict.

Donna, right above the feeder is another one for hummingbirds. I was set for the hummers that never gave me a chance. So all I was doing was dropping down to the seed feeder to get the feeding birds. Would have been better with a slower shutter and smaller f stop. I agree with you 100% and once I get some good hummers I can go back to a more normal setup.

Hi Greg. Like Donna said, you could have used a slower shutter, which means that your ISO would have been lower. However, your pics look fine & I can't see any noise, so your settings certainly worked for you (more than one way to skin a cat, hey). Just one observation--remember when we discussed using Auto ISO & you said that you would set 1600 as the upper limit. Were these pics shot in Auto, or was your camera actually set on 1600, rather than Auto? I only ask this because all of your shots were the same ISO (1600). Earl.

Hi Greg. Like Donna said, you could have used a sl... (show quote)

Earl, the ISO was set on Auto with the high limit set at 1600. Some of the other photos not posted were down below 800 ISO.

Jan, I do feel blessed to have the backyard we have. I have seen more different birds then I ever imagined along with the deer and squirrels. The flowers are now starting to come up and that means not only the pretty flowers but also butterflies, dragonflies, and the insects will be coming soon.

Jan, thank you for your comments.

I used to have the 55-250 zoom, but could never get mine to zoom out to 500mm... Nice shots, though.

Phil, that is funny and you are the first one to mention it. I could not find a way to change the subject to the correct lens, my Sigma 50-500mm. My bad but your funny.

Thanks for really looking :-) .
