We should keep that 5 myths article as a sticky site for all to read when they ask the same questions.

I agree and am game if the Admin wants to do it. It had some good comments that I was constantly forgetting in my remarks.

Check out the number of folks here who have posted help lost files in Lightroom and other problems. People also like to say how many thousand pictures that they have catalogued, as if no other software is capable of doing this.
consensus of opinion is that LR is a very capable catalogue as long as you are happy to use LR's system of logging each and every photo in a precise way. ie more than day date place. and only using LR to move delete images etc.
Elements has an organiser: do you use it? do you already have a system that allows you to find a particular picture easily?
PS is industry standard and most third party plug ins like topaz obviously work with it. Elements is cut down to suit the masses and most plug ins work with it. There is also the issue of bit size, however does your current photography warrant a bigger colour gamut ? PSE and Elements have a long history. Alternative Software has actually become more available now than even 5 years ago. Your ability to use several different software products on the same image has kind of made a quiet entrance. So if you know what you want to add to your existing abilities you can probably find a free alternative programme that does it. Also how you display your images (beyond print) has opened up. Web based images do not need the same amount of post processing. It could be argued that even Elements is too advanced for some people's needs
The trouble with photography is GAS ....Gear Acquisition Stupidity. It won't make you a better photographer until you can identify precisely what it is that you need to change and why your existing kit won't do it.
I haven't answered your question but perhaps I have opened up your perception in asking it.
Have fun
A common misconception about Lightroom is that you must do everything inside of it (Lightroom) or risk losing data or corrupting the catalog.
I have no problem moving things or deleting them outside of Lightroom. Never had any issue what-so-ever.
The simple way to bring Lr up to date is click on synchronize folder. Boom, done.
Lightroom is happy, the computer is happy, so I'm just going to sit here being happy!

Back in the day most people chose to use Photoshop Elements, or its heavy duty brother a version of Photoshop CS. You could almost count to twelve or twenty four and wait for Adobe to release the latest and greatest version of of photo editing software usually at a price that would dent you bank account. So the Adobe Creative Cloud for $9.99 a month is a no brainer even to the most frugal user.

As many times as those very points have been explained and re-explained on here since the 1st part of 2014 you would think there would be very little, if any, confusion about the operational concept and cost effectiveness of the $9.99/mo. plan, yet the question keeps coming up; and not just from new members.
Just goes to show the old saying is true - You can lead the horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
