Over the years I've come to really enjoy close-up and macro photography. Once you start looking for subject matter, it's amazing how much striking beauty can be found in the most mundane surroundings. We look at thousands of things every day that we really don't see. This is in my back yard taken with a Nikon D-60 using an OLD F-Mount macro lens with absolutely nothing automatic. It's a stack of five images processed with CombineZM. You can see on each end of the wire where I started and stopped the depth of field. I really enjoy playing around with this kind of stuff!

Nice Shot!! I also love macro photography. Your photo proves you don't need exotic subjects to make a great photo.
WOW...I can see why you like it, so unique!
I love what stacking did to the moving clouds. Nice technique. What time interval between photos?
I am also enamored with detail. I shot for maximum DOF in my field insect macro-photography.
Polyphemus Silk Moth " Antheraea polyphemus" caterpillar, 1:1
Crucifix or Cross Orb Weaver (Araneus diadematus) spider, dorsal view, 2:1
Gray Hairstreak butterfly (Strymon melinus pudica), 3:1

Thanks to all! Actually, the background was very blurred and blocky due to the lens I used and the short depth of field . The effect shown is from the "smudge tool" in Photoshop CS4. I tried for an ethereal unworldly look.
I'm a real fan of focus stacking. I use CombineZM which can be downloaded free with NO strings attached. I find that it works as good as Photoshop CS4 or Helicon, both of which are fairly costly. If anyone has stacked images I'd love to see them.
Here is another stacked image. It's a couple old trade beads supposedly from the fur trade era of the 1800's. I can't vouch for the authenticity but I believe it to be true. I've stored the original image for all who wish to tear it apart. All comments welcome!

Evidently I didn't get a downloadable image. I'll try again...
