Also, keep in mind Tamron warranties their lenses for 6 years.

I'm looking at purchasing a Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD for use on my Nikon D-750 in lieu of the Nikon version of this lens
Cost is the reason, as I don't take lots of pictures and can't see spending them difference in $$ for the Nikon
Does anyone have an good or bad comments on this combination.
It is $1300.00 out of B&H new. I just got the Nikon version Mint in box from ebay for $1250.00. Three years from now my lens will be worth just about a grand, cause I will keep it in mint condition. The Tamron on the other hand will be worth a lot less. Plus my Nikon outshines the Tamron, the Nikon is 24-70 is one of the sharpest lenses ever made, just read the reviews. Do your self a BIG favor and buy Nikon. You won't be sorry.
Thank you for the comments :) still looking around and trying to make a decision
You get what you pay for.

We'll, you got a lot of opinions but really no one answered the question, why is it better. The fact that it is listed the best value for the price indicates that compromises have been made. So what are they? if you buy the Tamron and it doesn't do what you want it to do, you won't know why. In fact no one has bothered to list any differences. If you look at another lens in the future you will be back here getting the same thoughtful answers such as I have it and like it. I love those answers. They tell you absolutely nothing. Lenses are complicated. The come with elements and groups, glass to reduce chromatic aberration, distortion, vignetting, coatings to increase contrast, saturation, reduce ghosting and flare, some have 5 rounded aperture blades and others have up to twenty and they are squared and some are rounded. Do you know why that's important? What about AF, AF override, VR for 2 or up to 4 stops of light, etc.... Which one has what? Do you know?
My point is, unless you make a detailed comparison, you could be making the wrong decision. Don't come in here looking for that detail. You'll never get it. Go out and get it yourself. In the process, you will become educated and knowledgeable and be able to make future decisions without relying on, I have it and like it.
