Hi everyone
I recently purchased a HP 32GB class 10 SD card
My nikon always says, wrong card , can't use the card in slot 1, I take the card out and install it again, works better for 5-6 shots, again error message, sometime reads as card err.

Can I do something to fix this?

Try cleaning card contacts with drop of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol on Q-tip.

I suggest reading the manual and looking at the approved cards on page 319. Cards that do not meet that criteria may not function and may even damage your body.
I personally have never used HP cards and would not trust them with the overabundance of cheap Chinese counterfeits out there. Stick with the top names and you will have no troubles.
If you bought it new from HP direct they will warranty the card and either replace it or refund your purchase price.
I am guessing this is the card you have:

Thank you very much MT
I didn't check the manual for the brands that Nikon advised earlier, my mistake, I will get those brands only next time
Yes, that is the card I bought. As Nikonian72 said I will clean the card and will try or send back the card to HP.
Thank you very much again.

You haven't provided enough details to be sure of the problem, but I suspect you have either bought a new memory card that is either the wrong type or too large for that camera. If it is still the original memory card that you first used with your camera, try reformating the card.

If it's not too late return the card... In my experience HP cuts corners any place they can. My workplace purchased an HP server 2 years ago and it came with a 1st generation SATA hard drive when that tech was barely still available.

You would likely do as well with the cheapest brand card available. As others have said, stick with Sandisk or another well known memory brand.

SD has a good reputation, so I stick with them. I wonder what would be so different about a card that a camera rejects it. You'd think they would follow the same basic standards. I've had a Nikon reject one card, but it worked fine in another Nikon.

I've been using the Delkin class 10 brand from B&H in all my Nikons with no problems. They are made in Korea. I have 18 of there cards and change everyday when on trips. Not one has ever failed. 4GB in the D90 and 8GB in the D7000-16GB in the second slot

The card is not too large for the camera. Send it back and get a Sandisk or a Lexar. I've never had a problem. Probably just a faulty card.

I have been using 16GB cards by PNY. They are reasonably priced and have performed flawlessly. I use Class 4 for still shots, and use Class 10 for video. Although I don't use the D7000 for video, I have a Canon Vixia that uses the Class 10 PNY cards and they perform well. The one bit of advice that I would give with using them for video, is to format the card before every use. Canon calls it initializing the card, but it's the same thing. When I just deleted the scenes from a card, I would on occasion get an error during the next recording.

Did you format your card before using it? That just might solve your problem

Just a question. Why so big a card? Video? Better to use multiple cards for photography for large shoots and download as often as possible to avoid losing photos.

Makes good sense. I only use my 16gb card when shooting videos because the ride is smoother. Since I have two cards in my D7000 at times I'll tell the camera to set the second card for either videos r jpeg but card number one is always in Raw. That's the beauty of two cards:)
