I am not all that smart with a computer..........why all the waste space around the posts now???? is there anything i can do to make it more compact please?

You could view it on your phone. That would make it smaller and more compact. ;)

On any browser, you can reduce text and space size by doing this:
Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard.
While holding that key down (one at each end of the bottom row of keys-just hold one down)
Tap the - sign (minus or dash if you prefer) on the upper row continuously until the type and space is as small as you want.
If you over do it.... hold down one of the Ctrl keys and tap the plus sign until the type/space is as big as you want it.

Folks who view/post from a cell phone must have really tiny fingers. I'm currently using a 10 inch tablet and that's almost to small for some of the hypertext buttons. It's a whole lot easier using a PC...

Really pointy fingers are an advantage with the phones.
And yes it is really a whole lot easier to read using a larger screen and to post using a real keyboard.
I know a there are people posting here on UHH who do not have smart-phones or if they do, then do not use them for reading articles. Could those people possible be older, retired? It's not a bad thing, I am older too (not retired). But we "older" folk generally, and there are always exceptions, generally tend to not use the newer technology as much as the younger crowd. And cell phones are harder for "older people" to read because the text is smaller. But as was said by admin. most of the on-line market nowadays read web articles using their cell phones.
So change happens. It just did. You can't stop it. But you do have choices. You can reject it (in this case) and move on to something else, you can hate it and complain about it, or you can accept it and look for the good side.

Everything is squeezed in vertically. This format reminds me if the Nikonites web site. Visited there once and never went back.
No one has ever changed squat on my account anyway so if the powers that be think this is better, that is his/their perogitive. I don't, just sayin'....
