Three images of Nazca boobies from the Galapagos for your consideration. In picture #2 the bird is pushing the eggs up onto his/her feet, the warmest part of their body. In picture #3 the bird is taking a nap on the "back deck".
I like all three shots.
Image 1, Is wonderful light and nice detail.Love how the background is blurred and not distracting to the composition.
Image 2,You don't need to shoot the entire bird. I would have zoomed n on just the head and eggs. When you do that, you can see that she/he is actually moving the eggs on the top of her webbed feet. This type of intimacy is actually quite important for story. Don't be afraid to crop and process, adding more vibrancy to the image and even a slight vignette for draw emphasis on the story.
Image 3, Is interesting and yes the crop is appropriate but I would have cropped even more, removing the background distractions. I would have shot more wide open. This was shot at f/8. I would have been at f/3 or 4 if not all the way open to removing background distractions.

Thanks, Mark. I really enjoy your comments and suggestions. Very often you suggest pictures that I have taken but not posted. That makes me respond (mentally) "what a good idea, glad I thought of it!" You are right about shooting with a wider aperture. This was my first serious foray with a micro 4/3 camera and I'm just getting used to the increased depth of field at any given aperture. But I'm learning. And there is always that feeling that one should be sure the whole bird is in focus and we can blur the background later. Thanks again for your attention.
