I purchased the Sony a6000 Monday at Best Buy, they had a good deal and I also had a gift card. I bought the kit 55-205 and 16-55.
So far I like it. I have a Nikon D 7000 that gets too heavy to take on day outings, like this past mother's day. I am surprised to see the lack of decent manuals available on the market. Busch's tome is sold out, going for ridiculous prices on Ebay.
Any one have recommendations for other books on this subject?

A quick look at Amazon shows a large number of books on the a6000. Give that a try. I don't have an a6000 so I can't make ant recommendations.

Think you may be able to go on Busch's web site and download a pdf of his book. His co-author (I think) sent me the link but am not finding it right now. I have Gary Friedman's book I got on Amazon.

Check out Gary Fong's video on the a6000. He will show you how to use and set up the camera.

Congratulations on owning a quality mirrorless camera. Glad you got the two lenses. I know someone who owns an a6000. Loves it. Check for firmware updates. Be sure your camera battery is fully charged before attempting firmware updates and that your computer is compatible. Have fun. PDF downloads for a6000 manual should be available. Books should be easy to obtain online.

Both the Busch and Friedman books are available as eBooks. If you buy the Friedman paperback, the ebook version is free. For Busch, one doesn't get one the other for free. Sony offers a free eManual; however, it is tricky to use. It has internal forward to content links, but it has no way to go back to where you jumped forward from, a bit of a pain. With the Friedman, the paper version is B&W only, but the eBook is in color. One or maybe both of those authors had publisher problems. Of the two, I like Busch more because there is a bit less personal stuff and its subject layout is a bit better for my purposes. People vary in preferences. I like 'cheat sheets' narrowed to subjects like exposure, focusing, etc AND hip-pocket sized. As you cruise the Menues you will note that some options are 'grayed' out depending on what you set on the Mode dial. What is needed is a quick chart that shows what you can and cannot 'do' in the Menus - i.e., your level of control. I have yet to discover exactly when the camera will over-ride what I set. Of course, I control the shutter but not always the Fstop, ISO, White Balance, and focus point (think all those little green brackets in the scene view. The a6000 is a great little camera, but I'll let others comment on the lenses as I am not that advanced. I classify myself as a novice hobbiest.

Be aware that battery drain even in the turned Off condition will be only 16 to 20 days with the Airport Mode turned Off. Evidently the camera's transceiver remains powered though inoperative. So set Airplane Mode to ON. Per the Wikipedia article on Li-ion batteries, the normal self-discharge is about 8% per month at 40 degrees C. This is a thermodynamics thing as a charged battery is out of equilibrium electro-chemical system.

Fong offers a free video as well as a "premium" version. I viewed the first and purchased the second. Suggest watching the free one and consider ordering the Friedman e-book. If you like details and hands on suggestions this is a very well done publication IMO. Check for firmware upgrade(s) as well. Sony site has how-to instructions. Update will help a little with quicker start up time as one example.
