Some european countries do not have the same constitutional protection of freedom of speech as we do. british law is notoriously slanted towards those claiming libel and slander, in that they require a much smaller burden of proof for claiming defamation than in the US.

The de-N**ification of Europe after World War II resulted in many laws that would be considered unconstitutional in the US.
You can even be jailed in Germany, France, and a few other European countries for simply questioning any part of the Official Government Sanctioned Historical Narrative of a certain unmentionable historical event.
