Craig, after taking the lens and zoom out of it I was out that night testing but, I was having a hard time getting Jupiter with the 5x and worked with sharpcap for a while until Jupiter disappeared behind a tree. It does look as though if I wanted I could do the SC1 mod and use it for long exposure. There's a wealth of info on this awesome lil' cam Craig. I've been trying to get my hands on one for 2 yrs. and finally have my very own. This lil' color cam is pretty darn good it's not a mono cam , I've got one . I can now switch my QHY5-ii mono with the spc900 and do imaging or guiding they both are light and good lil' cams. I've got a 1 1/4' threaded adapter that's made just for the spc900 so it fits in the focuser , barlow or powermate .

That's great Ronnie I am going to be in the market for a camera to shot Solar System Objects.
A one shot color camera. I have a DSLR that shows to much color abortion in Planets.
It's best for Moon and Sun shots. My Celestron 8300 camera is too sensitive for anything but DSO's.

Craig, mind you this is a very light osc webcam . The Rave reviews really don't do it justice, this cam is capable of being the all in one cam . There's modifications that can be made that make this one of the best cams for astrophotography, due to having a high FPS for solar system objects and high sensitivity in low light for long exposure . I've shot 60 fps @YUY2 trying to get it figured out in the newest Sharpcap application I'm used to the older version . I'm just getting my feet wet with this cam and testing is in progress until I find out what it can really do and having fun while doing it.

Singing swan, HA HA HA ! lead lined room could work but, I'm a disabled amateur astronomer and a 2 min. mod took me and my CNA 1h 15 min. to complete because we were trying to be careful not to break the plastic housing and I almost cut my finger off in the process with a razor knife It was a bugger but, if I had 2 working hands I could have done it a quicker. It's now modded and I've tested it once on Jupiter @60fps YUY2 and when I do the SC1 mod it'll become a deep space imager for long exposures.

Thank You, Singing Swan. I never took your original post as offensive.
Here in California, we have annual fire seasons. And folks get burned out of house and home. I've seen it for 66 years now.
Natural disasters will occur. And the more densely populated the world gets, the more these will effect and become a tragedy for more people. (World population 1900 ~ 1 billion; today ~7 billion.)
Strength is rising above it, recovering from it, and carrying on with life. I had two cousins who were totally wiped out in Mississippi by Hurricane Katrina. The only thing left was the slab of their house. What was all over the news? New Orleans, because it flooded. Mississippi hardly got a minute of coverage, but was far worse.
My cousin's husband, and her little brother came to California and bought RV's to drive back to live in while they rebuilt.
When Mount Saint Helen's popped her cork, we got 1/2 to 3/4's of an inch of volcanic dust in Wyoming, 1000 miles East. We changed air filters in our cars a lot, and cleaned up the layers daily. No big deal. Not worth fret or worries. Just an event in life. Continue to move forward.
A Friend of mine use to say, "Ca-Ca Occurs".
So do you fret, worry, and look at it? Or grab a shovel and pick it up, quietly?
I think you and I are the type to grab that shovel.... ;)
When clouds occur, I just wish for rain and wait. I know there are always brighter days ahead. :)

I have no excuse. My head was in the clouds and my eyes were full of stars.
And as for the rain and clouds... sometimes I wish I could make them go away for ya'll, but I don't melt in the rain. And when the stars come out again..... well, dang guys, be ready and don't trip over the wires!!! :)

Disabled or not, you still got more goin' on than I do. I am the armchair/backyard astronomer who lives vicariously through the posts of the Astronomical Section here...all you guys are awesome!!

Good luck with the other modifications and do be careful of the fingers. However, if that mod took that long, you should probably put the lead lined room on the back burner for now :) (Maybe just go with some aluminum foil instead :) :) :)

Singing swan, I just don't give up on anything. I've lived with these disabilities for 41 yrs. already and astronomy is my joy, backyard or driveway my POMAN'S imaging rig does just fine for me. I've never sought out clubs or went to star parties, I just do my own thing and share some of what I see. I don't always have good nights but , when everything goes right {IT'S AWESOME !} . Imaging is pretty unpredictable and I don't plan what I'm going to do because it never works out. I use a Z10 reflector dob and view and have a 8 in. astrograph Newtonian setup for imaging in the elements , no dome or observatory in my yard. I just enjoy the night life. Ronnie from NC 5 mi. from the upstate and those wires do get in the way, regardless how well they're tied up. Aluminum foil EEEEEK ! not a good idea.
