Isn't this just a crop of the other image?

Very nice detailed shot of one of those boats, with a great angle. No halo effect, and the processing is very nice without creating any problems.

I kinda like the bluish color palette, but in case you don't, you could change it without the light-lowering as you did with the first version.

Lots of great shots to be had of these things!

I lived for three years close to this harbour and a few evenings each week I would just sit and watch the scene. It was as you say very soothing.
Glad you like it and thank you for commenting.

The smooth textured variegated sky above, sharp, rough textured sea below with the boat bridging the two work for me.

Seeing this type of boat for the first time I got lost in the detail of its interesting architecture.

A pleasant scene. Very interesting vessel. A little short on focus.

Billy, the image is nice. The sky is wonderful but the direction of light is an issue. You are still shooting into the light. The boat and ocean is in shadows. There is a lack detail. The sky remains the most dramatic part of the image and best displayed in a landscape composition. The boat is quite centered. Overall the shot is uniformly lit and quite dark.

That being said, you processed this naturally, it is no longer over processed, the halos are gone. All good. Consider a BW approach?

The boats are interesting for sure but up close the bits of rope and baling twine twine holding parts in place led me to believe the fishermen were either drunk foolhardy or dumb as hell. Actually probably a bit of each would be the truth of the matter.

There is something soothing about watching a boat bob around on calm water John so getting a reasonable shot is not too difficult. Thank you for dropping by my friend.
