For those of you that have the Nikon D500 already. If you have 3rd party batteries that you have used in your prior camera, have you tested to see if they work in the D500...This is of course assuming that you have a camera that uses the same model battery.. TIA..

I would not use a third party battery on any new Nikon Camera while under warranty. After the warranty, OK. You're only talking a savings of $20 or so. Not worth it for a $2000 new camera. IMO.

I looks like Nikon anticipated this and other issues.

This is a re-run that is untrue.

Yes it's a rerun. It's called sarcasm.

I hear there are sarcasm-free websites. You should look one up.

The funny/sad thing is this: in the comment section following the blog were a number of responses from individuals who clearly have reading comprehension issues.

I'm still shaking my headÂ…

I may need to preemptively schedule a visit to my chiropractor.

 8-)

Why cheap out?
Spent a lot of money on the camera get O.E.M batteries
I did it once battery only lasted about 60-90 days and shot craps all for a $20 savings.
Never again.

You realize this was written as a joke, right?

If the battery fits, use it. I have batteries I bought for a couple of models back, and I use them in my D750s. If you want to be careful and protect your warranty, stick with Nikon batteries. I've never heard of an aftermarket battery harming a Nikon DSLR.

Good thing the article states that it is fake. Otherwise, no one would know.

Further evidence that sarcasm has no place on the Internet.

The D500 will only use Nikon batteries. I have a 2 Promaster batteries that I use interchangeably with Nikon batteries in my D810 and D750 - they do NOT work in the D500.

Took delivery on 4/21, got home and inserted one and it did not work. Called Service Photo, my dealer, they said they had heard rumors but with my camera, it was the first they had actually seem. Said they called Nikon which confirmed the fact.
