I just returned the Oly 300 f/4, and ordered the Panny.
Not a statement that the Panny is a better lens, just that a zoom suits my needs much better.
Maybe I will order the Oly again some time in the future.

I can't believe how much extra sharpness I see using the silent shutter. Could be imagining things but I don't think so.
Handheld or placed on tripod?
I did the test photos w 100-400 mm lens- will try to post tonight. I am in the car traveling towards Oregon for the summer. Overal positive experience but will go into more detail tonight if we have decent internet connection. I will say I had better results handheld than on tripod but that may be coincidental. Also while on tripod put camera into electronic shutter and turned off O.I.S. Which is the opposite of when handheld. Also need to factor in user error(mine) and learning curve :)
Both the camera and lens stabilization needs to be turned off. What kind of tripod? Did you use a remote to fire the shutter?
This is with the 40-150 at 150mm random snap. F5
Look at the detail in and around the eye

CF gitzo tripod. No remote to fire shutter. Lens instruction said to turn off OIS which is switch on lens when using tripod which I did. Did not turn off camera stabilization too.

Which camera? Are you trying to say you DID or DID NOT turn off camera IBIS?

PS: you can always use the 2 second delay feature on the EM-5 and I believe the panny has something like it as well. At telephoto, even the tiniest movement will degrade sharpness.

I used the GX8. Did not turn off camera stabilization inside camera menus but turned off "power OIS " which is a switch on the lens so presumably camera stabilization was still on. Yes now aware that gx8 has delayed shutter release- one second and up-
All stabilization needs to be off on a tripod to get sharp results.
