I have driven past this location many times, but this time they had something that really caught my eye. Usually they have big standing black bears, eagles or razorbacks out front. This time was these two statues. You can see more of their work (the wife does most of the carving) at www.cajuncarver.com They are both between 7' and 8' tall. Located in Alpena, AR.

It doesn't seem possible to do the whole thing with a chainsaw. I would think the husband roughs it out with the chainsaw and the wife details it with specialty knives. Is that it?

No, she carves it out with the chainsaw completely. She uses different size saws. I watched a guy at a state fair carve an eagle with spread wings out of a log in 30 minutes. Her name is Kay Jackson and she has gone all over the US and carved. If you have a tree in your front yard that needs cut. She can make you a statue of your choice.
