This is a great price on this newer version of the Rokinon 8mm lens. $189 including shipping from a reputable dealer. It has the chip and removable lens cap.

Yes. It is an excellent fisheye for APS-C cameras made by Samyang. Excellent value.

It is for the Canon EF or Nikon. Adorama's normal price for this lens is $399.

If this is the lens: http://www.adorama.com/rkhd8mc.html

It is an excellent lens, and also an extremely good price. I have the earlier version, with no chip, but you don't really need it, and mine has a removable lens cap (always a useful thing!), but not a removable lens hood.

This redesign made the lens hood removable, which isn't really an issue for APS-C cameras, but makes it useful on a full frame camera, in which case it will produce the classic circular fisheye lens projection.

Bear in mind, that although on an APS-C camera the lens will fill the frame, it is a fisheye (renders straight lines as curves - barrel distortion) not a rectilinear projection (straight lines as straight lines).

I have a Viviitar branded version of this lens that I found new on ebay for around $180 and am very pleased with it.

Thnks for the tip Donald. I didn't notice what I had done. This is the link I should have posted. It is the HD8M-N lens. The HD stands for Hood Detachable.

Definitely looks like a good deal - even better with Paypal credit ;)

I just sold one on E-Bay for $175, so $189 seems fair for a retail mail order price.

If anyone wants a good fisheye lens I doubt there will be a better deal than this to be found. If you want one, buy now while this deal lasts.

I have found it to be a much more useful lens than I initially expected, and the curvature can be minimally intrusive when keeping the horizon in the center of the frame.

Here's a snaphot...
