Nest construction

While watching Eagles on the Susquehanna River in Maryland I caught a pair of Eagles constructing a nest in an electrical tower on an island below a dam. Obviously the materials they use are quite large and they alternated making trips back to the forest to gather more material. It was really something to observe. The picture of the nest is on a local farm and has been active for more than 15 years.

I got to see them hauling in building materials once, as well. Quite a thrill.

And all that without any formal engineering training. Great photos.

Nice shots. I get to the Conowingo Dam a couple times a year. The completed nest can easily weigh a ton. Amazing construction, as somebody already mentioned, without any engineering training.

I go to the dam every weekend. I love to just watch but have managed to acquire 100's of Eagle shots.
