Credit cards

I just got the funniest e-mail that said that due to my excellent job employment status I qualify for a low interest rate credit card. I get that credit card stuff all the time but not because of my employment status. I've been retired for 1 1/2 years, where do they get this stuff.

I guess your "excellent job employment status" didn't go away when you retired.

I got a notice about my "preapproved" credit card, seemed legitimate so I excepted and filled out the application. I got a response "You did not indicate the amount of your yearly income". My response was "That is non of your business, all you need to know is that I pay my bills" Their response--"Application denied" I obviously do not understand "pre approved".

Apparently, reports to the credit bureau indicate that you are successfully carrying out the responsibilities of being retired.

I've been retired since 2010, I now have a lot more respect for retirement - it's a lot tougher job than most young people realize.

I agree with that. The one thing that erks me the most is the people that think you need something to do and want you to volunteer for this that and the other. I have plenty to do and photography is the main one with glassblowing a close second.

Mostly, these are "scams" to get you to sign up for their card...but you don't notice, until it's too late, all the hidden fees.

Be very careful if you decide to respond to them.
