Mike approached me for 40 cents, although I left him with more and he agreed to pose for me. While conversing with him I discovered that he is a homeless veteran on the streets of San Antonio.

The spot on his head although probably there could be mitigated ever so slightly……just does not look real Mr. Chinn. White spot on his left eye lid needs attention. If you like em that’s all that matters but for me the eyes are too striking. Small haloing look along top of his right shoulder and mixed in the beard just barely his left cheek. All of which lend to a finished image. Your look is a bit lighter or brighter than some past and I like it. A well done image to be proud of.

--- spot on his head - just does not look real Mr Chinn. I doubt Mr Chinn would photoshop a spot on his subject's head "would you" if it was your photograph? I don't think so.

Thanks Frank for your thorough comments. It is greatly appreciated and I have reworked the areas.

I thought about removing the spot on his head but chose to leave it for the fact its part of him but I did tone it down some. Either that is a birth mark or skin cancer. Not sure though.

I agree with the eyes, I struggle with eyes sometimes or most times I should say. I just can't find a happy medium. Either over processed or under processed. An area I should concentrate more on.

Heather please re-read my words. I am not exactly sure what you mean by “photoshop”, but I'll take a guess. I did not say remove the birthmark, scar, or whatever it is, just mitigate it a bit. Sometimes in post processing things get accentuated…...some things more than others, so that is what I am referring to.

Very well done Mr. Chinn, I realize you just rushed or over looked some very minor details. I am no different, if I don't leave an image for an hour or two and come back to it I almost always miss something.

An excellent image if not a self portrait! Wonderful detail to bring out character. I would have removed spot on his head. I understand it is original but this image is surreal and since you did much in post, a little more would not have been a violation. As it is, it is a distraction and you are drawn to it as opposed to the images itself.

Care to share your technique?

Thanks for taking another look Frank. I do believe your correct though. I do need to slow down and be more patient prior to posting. Will I ever learn? Maybe !!! Hope so anyway.

Thanks Mark !!! I'm still in a self debate about the spot on his forehead and I can see and agree that it is a distraction.

I can assure you that its not a self portrait .... there are some similarities isn't there?

The technique is rather long and I will have to get into that phase another time.
