We use the words "conservative" and "liberal" to be catch-all words, putting our own values and interpretation into them and at least implying all sorts of ideologies in unrelated areas - finance and taxes, sexuality, religion, international politics etc., to the point that the original words "conservative" and "liberal" are wh**ever the user wants them to be.
Is a small government pro-gay marriage person conservative or liberal? Is a pro-gun pro-t****y restroom person conservative or liberal? Is a pro-a******n pro-10th amendment person conservative or liberal?
