PSE 14 doesn't like update

I have used PSE 11 for a couple of years without one issue. Bought PSE 14 couple of months ago on DVD. Installed. Cranked it up and got a popup offering ACR 9.5 update. Installed update, did a little PP and quit. Next time I attempted to start up I got the welcome screen and when I selected editor it crashed. Since then I have reinstalled this package three times, and so long as I do not update everything seems fine. With update installed everytime I quit I must reboot computer to make it work. Adobe does not respond to my requests. Toshiba laptop/Windows 10 64 bit all updates current. Malwarebytes finds no problems. Antivirus ditto. Any ideas?? :( PS Selecting editor through organizer gives the same results.

I use both, on an iMac, without problem.

Have you tried uninstalling PSE & doing a clean install?

I installed it in January of this year on my Toshiba laptop and I have no problems with PSE14 at all. Perhaps you have some other issue with your computer? It really is a wonderful and better than PSE11!
Now my laptop has a i7 CPU 16GB of ram, a fast video card 750Gb memory.

I ran into a similar problem when I installed PSE 14 on my laptop. My issue came down to Adobe not using the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. I suggest you google "PSE 14 runtime error" where you'll find plenty of info. Lastly, when I installed the runtime library as suggested, I still had the issue. So, I copied the msvcr80.dll and msvcr100.dll files into the c: program file\adobe\photoshop elements 14 folder so the PSE executable could find them. Worked like a champ. BTW, this is a known issue.

I upgraded from 11 to 14 and have had no issues on my Dell laptop. Both seem to work fine. I do have one issue though with 14...when I click on Help/update, nothing happens. It just sits there and looks at me. So I don't have any way to check for updates.
