Fees to shoot a wedding in the "modern world".
I shot weddings from 1983 until 1994 professionally . My estimate would be several hundred total. My question is how much would you guys charge now days to travel 50 miles and shoot, process, and deliver on a DVD ?
Not all that excited to shoot another wedding, but this is for a fellow equine enthusiast.
IF you were a pro, even now you should be aware of the pricing.
$250 Would cover your basic expenses for a friend.

If its for a friend I wouldn't charge anything. I would give it as a wedding gift.
When I go to seminars here is what they say to do. And this is from photographers charging $4,000 or more for weddings.
If you want to make $4,000 then the disk sells alone for $4,000.
If your total sales make you the $4,000 profit, then the disk is free. So the disk is sold on a sliding scale to make up the difference between your profit in sales and total profit you want to make.
But if you call enough photographers you can probably find someone who will do it for $100.00.

Nobody can answer that for you. Only you know what your time and expertise is worth.
But if you need an answer:
$0.00 to $5000.00
Is the range that I've seen.

I use Thumbtack. Not the greatest place in the world. If I was living on my wedding photography I would use a different approach/model. But.....it is what it is and fits what I need right now. At least till I open my studio.
Basic weddings on Thumbtack go for around 600-800. They have gone to 250-500. Times at those low prices, they even have the balls to ask for an album.. I don't usually shoot the wedding for under 650 unless the story line they made up is really heart wrenching, true or not.
BUT......The typicl price for weddings has been 550-800 for the last two years with an occasional $1,000-$1,500-$2,000 wedding. Thumbtack recently changed their pricing model and upped the credit requirement based on price. Now I am seeing TONS of weddings at the $1,000-$2,000 price. Which mean Thumbtack makes alot more money. Before the new pricing it was rare, now it is ALOT. Ya think Thumbtack is saturating their own system. I had a 20-30 email exchange with them over this about 1-2 months ago. Since then the high priced wedding came down (do you think they were listening) but seriously, there is still more than before and they are no getting more for the ones I bid on.
Sorry for the EXTRA stuff, this is my burn center right now. I enjoyed Thumbtack for what it was, aka Craigslist. Now they seem to have big heads and think they are Angie's List. Don't get me started on that.
Dude, in my area, there are no pro studios, only wanna be's. I used to shoot pro down in South Florida for 11 years. Although it has been 22 years since shooting a wedding, I feel I still remember enough to shoot another one. I had shot several hundred in my lifetime. I am a bit insulted by your comment.
First: before taking a wedding photo adventure i check out all location so there are no surprises. (I did a wedding where I had to rent a wide lens) because it was a small chapel.
Two: I always start at 1K, plus photos. Three: I make them sign a wedding contract with 75% down.
If they complain at the contract, I walk.
Think of your talents and time.
Note: Limit the number of photos to around 300

Welcome to UHH, I see you're fairly new here. If your post was directed at Rongnongno, just ignore the old curmudgeon. He's always like that.
Also, if you hit the "quote reply" button as I've done here, we'll know to whom you're replying. I can't answer your question since I've never shot a wedding, but good luck and I think you've gotten at least a couple of helpful answers already?
Cheers, Walt
I think the problem with wedding pricing is that there are so many willing to do this for next to nothing even though they have little or no experience. Also the new digital cameras make it easy. Hell, you can do it with a cell phone now since there quality has come so far. This means a friend can shot the event.

Agreed. When first insulted, I quit UHH. Months later, came back. Some members write with a purpose to hurt others. Analyze that.

Personally, I'd say the starting fee is $5000.00, with a 50% up front deposit, 10% of that non-refundable. Have a contract signed by both bride and groom to be. Oh, and have an attorney on retainer.
