Tallulah Falls Georgia

I will be driving from Atlanta to Gatlinburg next week for a photography workshop. Tallulah Gorge State Park looks like a great place to stop along the way to get some nice shots. I would like to get a view of the suspension bridge and the falls. I am looking for suggestions of where I go when I get to the park to get to good viewpoints.

Also, I will be leaving Atlanta about 10AM. Where would be a good place to stop for lunch. Thanks.

Not sure about lunch places between Atlanta and Tullulah but if you make it as far as Clayton, the Clayton Cafe is an excellent down home type place for lunch. For Tullulah, you might want to walk the 600 steps down to the bottom if you are in decent shape. There is a center at Tullulah and they can give you info on where to go and you are supposed to get a permit to go to the bottom. It is free. Thanks for the info. I think I could make it down the steps but not back up. I will try the Clayton Cafe. I found the website and it looks like I will try the south and or north trails. Have any idea which might be better. I would like to see the suspension bridge but not sure where that is exactly.

Steve, this is L'Eau d'Or Falls at Tallulah Falls State Park. You can photograph it by taking a short hike from the visitor center. No steps to climb. You can also photograph the gorge by a short hike in opposite direction.

Great. That is what I was looking for. Do you know if it is easy to see the suspension bridge?

I can't recall but I believe the suspension bridge is viewable without the hike down the stairs.

Not sure how much cover there is now since the trees have leafed out.

Hi, Steve ~

I live in Gainesville and was just up there a month or so ago. I could see the suspension bridge from one of the overlooks (just out of the visitor center). The good folks inside could assist you with which might be best.

There are several restaurants nearby, but I haven't tried. I normally stop at The Attic, The Copper Pot, or 4th Quarter Grill in Clarkesville.

For future reference, the first 2 weekends in April and in November, they ramp up the water release from the dam. Lots of kayakers are out and it's kinda neat to shoot a little action from above.

WATCH OUT for Copperheads and rattlesnakes. They abound!
