We are both perfectly willing and able to use the firearm if the perp does not immediately disappear. But unless they are totally high on drugs that will generally stop the aggression.
So you are right it will not end well, for the perp. And no the firearm is not "waved around" but is pointed directly at the perp and is steady with the hammer back, round chambered, safety off and yes finger on the trigger at that point. PS carry cocked and locked, have done so for over 40 years in and out of the service. Yes we train regularly different scenarios and positions.
