I wrote a program some years ago to automatically backup my data, it runs daily, and I can run it on demand. I compiled it to a .ZIP file today and want to make it available to UHH users for your backup needs. The link to download is: http://www.rlaj.com/Download_for_UHH_users.html

Feel free to share the program with your friends.

If anyone would like a program to automatically upload images to your web server, let me know and I will put one together and make that available. It is a very easy program to do and will only take a couple hours to do.

Program overview.

Place the program (3 files) in a new folder on your C:/ Drive - call the folder Backup C:/Backup

Edit the file: backup.txt - do not rename this file.

The format for the file is: c:/"folder to backup",d:/Destination_folder

Put one folder to backup per line

If a folder has a space in it, put double quotes around the folder name: C:/"Program Files"/Folder

You must use the full path to the folders: C:/users/ray/appdata/local/"Application Data"/folder

Use a trailing slash / for each folder

NOTE: to backup your Pictures folder, the path IS NOT C:/Pictures the path in windows 7 will be something like this:
C:/users/ray/"My Pictures"/

The names of folders are case sensitive, must be exact.

When the program runs, it only backs up files that have changed since the last backup. In other words,
the program will only backup new files and files you have modified since the last backup.

If you use an external hard drive, it is a good idea to change the drive letter for that drive to a
letter tword the end of the alphabet, (N:/ DRIVE). The reason for this is so your backup drive drive letter will
not change when you have thumb drives plugged in + your esternal. Windows will assign a drive letter
if you do not. If the external drive you use for backup, drive letter changes, the backup will not work. See
below for instruction on how to do this.

Create a shortcut to the DataBackup.exe on your desktop. I also add the shortcut to my quick launch bar. Anytime
you want to backup current work, just click the icon.

Run your backup on a schedule.

1. Open Windows Control Panel.
2. Type "Schedule Tasks" in the search box.
3. Click on "Schedule Tasks" in the results.
4. On the next screen, choose "Create Basic Task"
5. Give the task a name, click Next
6. On next screen, choose "Start a Program", click Next
7. On next screen, click "Browse" select the program DataBackup.exe, click Finish

Assigning drive letter to your external drive.

Plugin and trun on your external drive.
1. Open Windows Control Panel.
2. Type "hard drive" in the search box.
3. Click on "Create and format hard disk partitions" in the results.
4. On the next screen, right click on your external drive, select "Change Drive Letter"
5. Follow instructions from there - it's easy.

I used Mozy for quite some time until ZenOK Online Backup came out. While I thought Mozy did the job, Backblaze was much better. http://www.zenok.com/en/online-backup/
it is easy access to any file from any devise. Anything that is backed up on any of my five machines is available for access from any of my mobile devices. Finally a tool that gets all my stuff in one place - organized and searchable!
