Took this Sunday morning, 4/24/16, under a cloud formation east of the mountain. Was able to stop at the scenic overlook along I-25 S, just north of Colorado Springs and bang this off, as it was rather cold and windy. The airfield is part of the US Air Force Academy. Nikon 7200, Sigma 24-70, Pgm/Auto F6.3 1/500 ISO 100 @ 70mm

Nice shot!! Never thought of taking the Peak from that overlook. Yes, indeed, the wind was blowing. You can see the wind sock straight out on the airfield.

If you ever get a chance take that at sunrise from the east. you have a nice composition but tough light
