good day everyone I'm new to this site and am enjoying everything I've seen so far. I'm from Toledo, Ohio and use a Nikon D300.
Ive noticed that a person can submit some of their work for suggestions for improvement. Do the files have to be in a certain file format ie JPG? I would like to here some comments on my efforts.
Thank you!
Welcome, This is a great site. I know you can submit in jpg but I don't know what other formats can be submitted. As I also am a newbie.
Melissa, from one newbie to another, i really like this shot very much. There's something about the utter stillness and glassy surface of this lake that draws me in. I think the fact that you have the lake itself (the foreground?) take up so much of the picture makes this viewer really think maybe there's something almost sinister about it..?

I dont know if their is a site administrator here or not to ask. check at top for the user list see if it has any moderators or admi listed and send a private message. Or you could do it the easy way and attempt to post in whatever format you want . If it takes it you know you can use that format. As for the lake picture I think the right side being in shadows gives the lake an erie feeling. Or maybe its the theme from friday the 13th going round and round in my head.

If when you post, look right below the three windows where you add your phots. There are the instructions for adding of file. Forth line down "If you wnat to display a picture....... use GIF, JPG, BMP, or PNG files."
I personally have never had any trouble loading any size of file but they will take longer. Some do reduce both their file size and PPI. This will allow for faster loading and give you some protection from having your print copied without permission. You only need 78 pixel per inch for computer display but closer to 300 PPI for printing
Hi Dennis and welcome to the forum.
The D300 is a nice camera. Good luck with it. I shoot in RAW + JPEG Fine. This gives me two copies of every photo. I always post the JPEG, even after I edit.
Looking forward to seeing your work.
Melissa,
Your photo's great! I agree with Dixie. The stillness of the scene gives it a sort of eerie serenity. Good job! :-)

Thanks for all your posts. I never saw it as erie, just beautifully peaceful. The wonder of God's creation. I was going over my pics and I tend to move the camera. I was pleased that this one turned out so well. Thanks again for your comments.
phyllis, I love your picture of Koobie. He's adorable.
