Good work Mr. Chin but I somehow feel there is more to be done with the eyes as they seem to lack enough pupil.

Understand why you had to get a shot Dave. Personally Im not convinced the character is strong enough to carry such a close crop and feel a wider view view showing more context may work better. Obviously not aware of the constriction you may have been snapping under and know full well street aint the easiest of genres.
Not sure also you have hit your usual high peak with the processing here. Feel the glare in his facial skin needs a little more control.
Great eyebrows on this guy and love the way his beard leans to the left. A real find my friend.

Another really nice portrait, Dave. Great detail and mood. As usual, very nice processing in your chosen style.

Thanks Frank !!! Yes, he had some different kind of eyes. I have reworked them and still not 100% satisfied so I will just take it as is.

Thanks Billy but why should you have to be convinced ? I suppose this is where we differ for I feel it is strong enough to carry a close crop which is pretty close to how it was taken. So therefor, there was no surrounding area. I got what I wanted with him, which took some time. Any other shot of him would have not shown the expression of sadness, loneliness and just all around difficult life that I wanted to display. you for one should know this because of your location. But, I do appreciate what you are saying, however, I'm happy with it. Isn't that all that matters?

I'm in total agreement that one should really just please oneself Dave but posting on a forum would indicate one is after suggestions and opinion.

You are absolutely correct, posting on a forum does indicate one is after suggestions and opinions. Maybe we misunderstood each other? Not sure, but what I didn't understand was why you felt the character wasn't strong enough to carry such a close crop. As you know, there's street photography and street portraits. I do both, but I much prefer street portraits, so therefor, images such as this are most likely shot close to begin with.
I value everyones opinions, whether I agree or not, but when I don't understand someones opinion or critique, I have to ask so I can attempt to make the necessary corrections. Thats all I wanted, a better understanding on your opinion. On the other hand, maybe I didn't explain myself very well either.

To me, expression and eyes are key elements in any portrait type of work, while I feel this image was on target for what I wanted to portray, Frank commented on the eyes and I agree, the eyes had something different/wrong with them. I went back and worked on the eyes and made some corrections with some improvement, but I'm still not 100% satisfied.

While I may spend several hours on this type of work, something always gets missed. No two images are ever the same. Something will be different, even processing the same image twice.
I hope this explanation helps you to better understand where I'm coming from.

Hey Dave !!! Hope things are all well with you, for I haven't seen or heard from you in awhile.

Thanks for the compliment. Although, I feel there's some minor detail work that needs hashed out but all in all I'm happy with it.
