I'm for it - the moon is a wonderful challenge for all levels of photo skills - lets start a thread of our best past moon captures ( I'll Start with 2 of mine) and one of what we get over this week end - I hope it clears enough here - rather stormy now.
maybe just the day befor or after full
Mother Nature was helping me
And this weekend the moon is closer than usual. They suggest that here in Denver the clouds might cooperate and let us get some good shots.
The website I listed directs you to another website, The Photographer's Ephemeris. If you Google "Photographer's Ephemeris", it will show the website. It's free for desktop but they donations are accepted to continue the program. It's really cool! You can input a location and the times and details for viewing are right there. Enjoy!
It's not that the moon is going to retreat post haste. There will be good shooting past the full moon, which will be more interesting due to better lighting on the moon.
I did shoot tonight's moon as it dodged in and out of oncoming sea cover.

Took this a couple of hours ago in Queensland, Australia.. The sun was just setting so there was still a lot of light..
Stiring up the clouds
Perhaps m.t. will shoot the moon with his bazooka and find out if some one lives there.

Very cool! It's unexpected (for me anyway) to see the moon in bold daylight, so very unique too! Best version of a moonshot I've seen in recent days.
A friend is loaning me his pro-grade video tripod for the weekend for a 12-pack of Miller Lite. If the weather cooperates in Madison, I'll be able to capture some shots using a Sigma 350-1300mm. My fingers are crossed.
Sorry. Make that a 350-1200.

I was concentrating on focusing on the Moon that I didn't notice the airplane until I got the picture on the computer monitor. Talk about getting lucky!!!!

Unfortunately for the New York/NJ area it rained. No Moon last night. Guess I'll have to wait 'til November. Until then I'll enjoy all of your shots! :(
