Welcome to the hog!
What kind of camera do you have?
What is it you would like to know about your camera?
Hello,
I'm not a Cannon person but just wanted to welcome you to the forum!
Welcome to UHH. What camera do you have? Best thing to do is read your camera's manual, then practice, practice, practice, Then if you need more info, ask whatever you need to find how to do something. What are you interesdted in, landscape, macro etc, etc, etc. Good luck.

Like Gidgette says, read the manual and lots of practice. There are more tutorials on YouTube than you can imagine, and many books you can buy. "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson is a must.

OK Lesson 1: spell it Canon, not Cannon
Check out you tube. There are often pretty good tutorials on camera operations there.
When I first received my Nikon 300s I was totally lost. I spent a part of every day reading and re-reading the manual. You will need to understand many factors that all work together for good pictures. A good illustration is the golf swing. Many things have to work together to hit a straight ball in the fairway. Take lots of pictures and analyze each one. Apply what you learn here especially.

Whatever camera you have, read the manual, also stay with UUH and heed the advice that is given. Google subjects in reference to your camera, buy a detailed book that caters to your camera and practice as much as you can.
Here's a good place to start...
http://digital-photography-school.com/Kodak used to have a little book entitled "New Pocket Guide to Digital Photography...it was put out in 2007 but you may still find a copy on Amazon or at a Photography Shop. Hope this helps. Go shooting and try the different settings...you'll see a big difference.
Start with the basics read the manual that came with the book. Then go out and shoot lots of pictures and get some results so you can look at them and then post on UHH. Don't forget to click on the store orginal box so they can be viewed better. Then purchase a book for your camera that really explaines the in and out of what Canon model can do. You can find them at camera shops and on line for around $14.95. Then go out and shoot lots of pictures and get some results so you can look at them and then post on UHH, and see what others say in the C&C of them.
The beginner class is started when you Read The Freakin Manual!! That is the best place to start and go from there. Baby steps before you run!!

Before I (or anyone) can answer, you need to answer a few questions:
* What Canon Camera did you purchase? Is it a P&S, Bridge, DSLR?
* What do you want to do with it? (snap shots of the kids, landscapes, flowers, portraits, etc)
* What do you want to learn?
* What are your goals?
