Has anyone switched from a Mac to a Microsoft Windows computer and why?
I went the other way. From Windows to Mac. Love my MacBook Pro with a SSD drive, it is super fast and efficient. The time machine back up is a plus. In fact I just ordered a !mac with a 27"display.

That's just crazy talk...sorry to say ;-)

You are speaking for yourself, of course. I have been a Windows user for almost 30 years. Looked at Macs a few times over the years and have zero interest in them.
Recently switched from Windows to an IMAC. Wish I would have made the switch sooner.

Of course your mileage may vary, I started trying to run Windows with version 1, it did get better from there, but slowly! ;)
Finally after about 22 years managing a dos / windows shop I made the switch to a Mac, will never go back. Not a single regret.
But you are right, that is me.:)

Interesting question, I do know of a few (very few) instances where people have gone from a Mac to Windows. In all cases that I know of, the people who have done this had to because their small business had to interface with people who used windows. As a result, they reluctantly moved from a Mac to Windows.
I know more people who have moved from Windows to Mac and have never looked back.
Having said all of that, I have to mention that I am a long term Mac User. Yes, I have used Windows (yes, I have even used DOS).
I don't want to get into an argument on which one is best. Frankly, they both have their own place. BUT, for what I want to do, I will stay with a MAC!

Windows 1? That would sour anyone. :)
There are a lot of software I need which won't run on the Mac so no choice.

Exactly each operating system meets different needs for different people. I just never cared for Apple's approach to computing. Their whole
design paradigm is just a turnoff for me. Similar to the iPhone vs Android debate. Love Android, hate the iPhone.

That's certainly true, and in the business world, Windows dominates over the Mac. Even in mobile computing the iPad has stiff competition from the Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10.

Yes, "Why?" would be the big question. I moved the other way but still use Windows, along with the Mac.

When I made the switch I thought maybe I was going to hate my iMac. About two hours later I kew that I would never go back to a PC. I have a windows computer provided by my employer which serves to remind me why I will always be a mac guy.
