So - when the rest of the family is at a theme park, you can do something YOU really like - TAKE PHOTOS!
Just east of Orlando on HW 50 in Christmas, FL (seriously) lies this park - part of Orlando's wastewater treatment. It is HUGE! They do not allow driving - only walking or bicycling - along the berms. If you are up for a good walk, you can walk for miles through woods and wetlands. This was my first visit - it will no doubt be much more active when the migratory birds are here in the winter.
My only complaint is that wetlands staff were doing some maintenance or taking water samples - and because the area is so large they use an airboat. For those unfamiliar with these, they are flat-bottomed swamp boats which are propelled with an aircraft engine and propeller. They are very loud. The good news - they only did this for ten minutes. The bad news - although half a mile away, they hit 87 db where I was standing! (iPhone App) It was disturbing to me as well as to some of the birds.

Thanks, Sue and Angler. Just think, fellow photographers - every day you DON'T go to a theme park you save over $100 which you can save for your next lens! :)
Looks like you had a very good day.

Thanks, Topcat. It was a great day! Was back out there yesterday and didn't see such variety. It is getting too hot...
Well done. Thanks for the tip.
